Brief Introduction

The Department of English at Manohar Memorial College offers both B.A.(Hons.) and M.A. (English). English is also taught as an elective subject at Under-graduate Level. Besides, in all other undergraduate courses, English is included as a qualifying subject for the B.Sc.I year students. The faculty of the Department is a blend of youth and experience. The contribution of faculty members has been recognized in the area of English teaching and research at national levels. The faculty members also regularly participate in various academic programmes organized by the College and University. English is a course currently in great demand and the College also attracts boys and girls in large numbers who want to make a career by studying English. In addition to classroom teaching, audio-visual aids in the form of Language Lab. are used by the teachers to develop an interactive climate in the Department. The study of texts in English is supplemented by screening of film adaptation of various texts. U.G.C. sponsored Certificate, Diploma and Advance Diploma courses are also offered in the Department as Add-on course.

The Department of English organises Seminars, Extension Lecturers and other Programmes almost every year to enhance academic and literary interest of the students.
